PIERZ — Preston Weber became the seventh Pierz player to reach 1,000 points with a three-point basket at the 3:21 mark of the first half as the Pioneers defeated the Holdingford Huskers 74-29 in a Central Minnesota Conference game Friday.

Caleb Jansen, who reached the same milestone Tuesday, put up 17 points and pulled down 16 rebounds for Pierz.

Weber finished with 15 points and Logan Meyer added 13 for the Pioneers.

Weber and Jansen are the only teammates in school history to reach 1,000 points in the same season.

ONAMIA — Nathan Ehnstrom drained five baskets from behind the arc and tallied 23 points for the Aitkin Gobblers as they lost a close one to the Onamia Panthers 67-65 in a Great River Conference game Friday.

Alex Anderson added 18 for the Gobblers, who fall to 5-7 in conference play, 6-11 overall.

Matt Valentine added 18 points and nine rebounds while Grant Bell registered 12 points for the Flyers, who had defeated the Thunder 105-85 on Dec. 13.
