BASEBALL: Pitchers, hitters camp scheduled at Forestview

A preseason pitchers and hitters camp, for baseball players in grades 8-12, is scheduled at Forestview Middle School in Baxter.

Dates are Feb. 20, 22, 27, 29, and March 7 and 14.

Pitchers will begin a throwing program to get a head start on the upcoming season. The program will consist of stretching, running, pitching to a catcher, building a pitch count, and fielding as well as receiving tips on mechanics, grip and mental preparation. Pitchers camp runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Hitters camp will run from 7:45 to 9:15 p.m. Hitters will be hitting at stations as well as hitting off pitching machines and live pitching in batting cages. Hitters will receive tips on mechanics and mental approach at the plate. Batting gloves are strongly recommended.

Cost for each camp is $100. If a player is interested in attending both camps the cost is $150.

The camp is sponsored by, and instructed by, members of the Fort Ripley Rebels and Brainerd Bees amateur teams.

Players may pick up registration forms from senior varsity baseball player Blake Peterson at Brainerd High School or by calling Ray Austin (218) 838-7189 or Tim Martin (218) 839-1224.
