Eagles dash Brainerd’s title hopes

ST. CLOUD — The Brainerd Warriors had a chance to win a share of the Central Lakes Conference title with St. Cloud Apollo, but lost 35-30 to the Eagles in their final dual meet of the season Thursday night.

The loss snapped Brainerd’s 10-game dual win streak, but the Warriors still finished 12-4 overall and 6-2 in the CLC.

“It was a good close dual meet and the kids wrestled hard,” said Warrior head coach Mike Boran. “We just needed one more win in there somewhere.”

The Warriors led 30-25 heading into the final two matches, but forfeited at 220 and Sam Adams lost a 5-2 decision at 285 giving the Eagles the final nine points.
