Warriors win 3rd CLC title in a row

FERGUS FALLS — Seniors turned in a strong performance and the Brainerd Warriors captured their third straight Central Lakes Conference championship Thursday by defeating second-place Fergus Falls 5-1.

Senior Aaron Rich tallied two goals and classmates Mitch McLain and Matt Pohlkamp each added one.

Sophomore Logan Rivard accounted for the other Brainerd goal.

Senior Jared Stearns was near perfect in goal, turning aside 23 shots as the teams were even with 24 attempts each.

It was the eighth straight win for the Class 2A;s 19th-ranked Warriors, who are 12-0 in conference play, 19-3 overall and host No. 20 Roseau on Saturday at 3 p.m.
