Road Crew second, Rubner champ

MORRIS — Darian Rubner won the title at 152 pounds and the Pequot Lakes/Pine River-Backus Road Crew edged Morris Area by a point for second place in the eight-team Morris-Hancock/Chokio-Alberta tournament Saturday.

Rubner won his title with a 9-1 major decision over Wyatt Nordskog of Fosston/Bagley after winning his opening-round with a 58-second pin and a 21-1 major decision in the semis.

Nate Adkins (106) and Jace Loge (132) finished second.

Garnering third-place finishes were Derek Sonenstahl (145), Peter Harrison (160) and Jared Adkins (195).

Triston Rubner (113), Nick Gravdahl (126) and Nick Kramp (220) took consolation titles.

ROYALTON — Jordan Chouanard suffered his first defeat of the season in the Aitkin Gobblers’ 57-18 win over Royalton/Upsala in a dual meet Saturday.

Chouanard, 30-0 and ranked second in Class 2A at 152 pounds, moved up to 160 where he faced ninth-ranked Mitch Lange, who scored a last-second reversal to win 4-2.

Winning with pins for the 13-4 Gobblers were Jack Braton (113), Brian Wold (132) Adam Jackson (138), Travis Bare (152) Alan Bast (182) and Cooper Blau (285)
