Area Girls Basketball: Sheley scores to the top of list

PINE RIVER — Tatum Sheley had a milestone night as she broke the Pine River-Backus Tigers all-time scoring record during Tuesday’s 61-12 Northwoods Conference blowout of the Laporte Wildcats.

The previous record, set by Sarah Laposky in 2001, was 1,796. Sheley lifted that mark to 1,808 with her 20-point effort Tuesday.

The Tigers won for the sixth-straight time and remained unbeaten (12-0) in the conference.

Megan Felthous added 13 points for the 16-6 Tigers.

CROSBY — Missy Foote’s basket with three seconds remaining lifted the Crosby-Ironton Rangers to a 57-55 Mid-State Conference victory over the Pequot Lakes Patriots.

Foote finished with nine points and 14 rebounds and Chelsey Bonsante led the Rangers with 21 points followed by Shannon Lundgren’s 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Mattie Lueck paced Pequot with 19 points. Kayla Miller added 13 and Vanessa Lane 12.
