FLOOR HOCKEY: Warriors avenge earlier loss to Mustangs
The Brainerd Warriors ruled the floor in a 3-1 victory over the Anoka-Hennepin Mustangs in a North Division game Wednesday at Riverside Elementary School.
Anoka-Hennepin defeated the Warriors 8-1 in Anoka Jan. 30.
“It was probably the best win we’ve had all year,” said Warriors coach Todd Person. “When we went to their floor they beat us 8-1 and to come back here and beat them feels great.”
Brennen Myers started the scoring for Brainerd with a goal in the first five minutes, allowing the Warriors to finish the first period with a 1-0 lead.
Austin Annable scored two goals in the second, followed by one from the Mustangs’ Corey Gieske, but with no scoring in the third, the Warriors recorded their fourth win.
Warriors goalie Anna Wahl saved six shots.
“We had players out with illness tonight, and a few who were playing under the weather so it was an amazing win, said Person. “Everybody gave a solid effort throughout the game.”
