BIATHLON: Baker wins sixth race in Minnesota Cup series

Zean Baker, Nisswa, skiing for Nisswa NW Biathlon, finished first overall in the 10-kilometer mass start biathlon event in Duluth on Sunday.

With only rock skis being used, Baker shot 2,0,1,1 for his best shooting in a race and finished in 31:40 with strong skiing. Ty Hadrits of Brainerd and the NNW team, finished third at 34:22, shooting 1,2,1,2.

As the only woman in the 10km event, Jenna Ruzich of Baxter and the NNW team, finished fourth overall, shooting 0,3,1,1 in 38:58. It was Ruzich’s second 10km race in less than 24 hours.

Ruzich finished ninth out of 765 women in the 10km Book Across the Bay ski race at Ashland, Wis., on Saturday, finishing in 31:38. She was the 76th finisher out of 1,586 male and female participants.
