ST. CLOUD — Jack Sauer scored 29 points to lead the Brainerd Warriors to a 75-65 overtime victory over the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles Tuesday in Central Lakes Conference action.

The Warriors outscored the Eagles 16-6 in the extra frame to improve to 13-9 and take two of three on their three-game road trip.

Marcus Comstock added 14 for Brainerd, which swept the season series with Apollo.

“It was a really hard Central Lakes Conference win,” said Warriors head coach Scott Stanfield. “Apollo came out really aggressive and it took us time to adjust. Jack Sauer shot the lights out in overtime and won the game for us.”

Jack Sauer scored 21 of his 25 points in the second half as the Warriors lost to St. Paul Central 69-61 Saturday.

“I did not have the kids prepared to play, emotionally and mentally, and I take responsibility for the loss,” Warriors coach Scott Stanfield said. “The kids fought back the second half and closed it to four with 1:25 left. We had the ball and turned it over, and did not score after that.

“I did not coach a very good half, but the kids had my back and made a great second-half comeback.”

Sauer drained four 3-pointers in the second half. Marcus Comstock finished with 13 points.
