COLLEGE BASEBALL: Raiders still seeking first win

MESQUITE, Texas — The Raiders lost its second doubleheader in two days Friday to defending national champion Eastfield Community College.

In the first game, Robert Linebaugh shutout the Raiders 10-0 in five innings.

In the second game, the winless Raiders stayed in the game for a while before Eastman scored nine runs in the sixth to win 11-1.

Hunter Young singled in the fourth for CLC and scored on Dustin Motschenbacher’s double. Bryan Yackley followed with a single for the Raider’s third and final hit of the game.

Thursday, the Raiders lost a doubleheader against Eastfield Community College.

The Raiders lost the first game 17-2 with Jaron Hanson delivering a 2-run double in CLC’s first inning.

In the second, the Raiders lost 14-4 with Hanson, Jake Box and Sean Dormanen collecting hits for CLC. Lou Eschenbacher and Box each drove in runs.

Wednesday against Tyler Community College in Tyler, Texas, the Raiders led 3-2 in the sixth inning of the first game before losing 4-3. Losing pitcher Dustin Motschenbacher allowed just five hits and didn’t walk a batter. Jared Hoemberg had an RBI single and Joe Gaida and Hanson collected the other CLC hits.

CLC lost the second game 8-0. Pete Lucken had two hits for CLC and Joe Gaida, Trey Thompson and Derek Pihlaja each had a hit against the nation’s fourth-ranked team.
