COLLEGE SOFTBALL: St. Cloud Technical takes two from Raiders

ST. CLOUD — The Central Lakes College Raiders completed their non-division schedule with a doubleheader loss to St. Cloud Technical College on Saturday in the Husky Dome at St. Cloud State.

CLC lost the first game 8-0 with Becca Anderson and Desirae Guscette doubling and Jenni Smolke and Alanna Hansen collecting singles.

In Game Two, Anderson, Hayley Hornick, Smolke and Kaylie Hanson each had two hits as CLC lost 9-4. Hornick and Kaylie Hanson ripped doubles and Kaylie Hanson drove in two runs.

Sam Harting took the loss in both games. In the two games she struck out four and walked eight.

“Our girls were pretty wore down after three games on Friday and it was a lot to come back and play two more on Saturday morning, particularly for the first competition of the season,” CLC coach Greg Medeck said. “We struggled today to swing the bat and just didn’t have enough arms.

“It was good experience for our girls and we now have about a week to get ready for conference play. I am confidant that this is a talented group and we should be ready for Itasca on April 3.”
