College Softball: Raiders split with Hibbing
Alanna Hansen went 2-3 with an RBI and Samantha Harting struck out five to lead the Central Lakes College Raiders to a 1-0 victory in Game Two of Thursday’s North Division doubleheader with Hibbing.
The Raiders dropped the opener 7-6. Heather Hejhal was 2-3 with two RBIs and RBI singles by Becca Anderson, Kaylie Hanson and Carlie Sweet weren’t enough to prevent CLC’s losing streak to going to seven.
That didn’t happen until the night cap, where CLC notched its first division victory of the season with it’s 1-0 shutout.
Harting walked two and allowed just four hits to go with her five strikeouts.
“What won the second game was pitching and defense,” said Medeck. “I’m excited to see that and excited to see them get on track and build on this. It’s good to get a (division) win and get a point out of today’s action.”
Concerning the Game One loss Medeck said: “I felt like we had a fair chance to win that first game. We had a nice lead, but we had one inning to day that got away from us and that’s kind of been our story since the beginning of the season.”
