AREA BASEBALL: Kosteka pitches Pequot past Pillager

PILLAGER — Peter Kosteka pitched a complete game for Pequot Lakes as the Patriots edged the Pillager Huskies 7-5 in the Park Region Conference opener for both teams Monday.

“Peter pitched well, he only walked two guys and threw a lot of strikes. It was ground ball after ground ball,” Patriots coach Kyle Spray said.

Kosteka allowed five runs — two earned — and struck out two while walking two and allowing nine hits in seven innings.

Kegan Couture, Nick Greiner, and Alex Galligan each contributed two hits for the Patriots.
