AREA SOFTBALL: Albany limits Flyers to one hit in defeat

LITTLE FALLS — The Little Falls Flyers fell to the Albany Huskies 20-0 in the Granite Ridge Conference opener for both teams Monday.

Albany pitcher Karli Persson threw a one-hit shutout and struck out 10 in the rout while surrendering no walks in the six-inning game.

Rachel Mohs and Lisa Kepper contributed three RBIs and a double each, scoring a combined seven runs for the Huskies.

The only hit the Flyers managed was a bunt single by Britian Coley in the first inning.

Flyers pitchers issued a combined 12 walks. Starter Chloe Nelson struck out five and gave up 11 hits and seven runs in five innings. Kristen Gotfredson relieved Nelson.

“We weren’t able to get anything started against Persson. She threw a variety of pitches and kept us off balance at the plate all day,” Flyers coach Ron Hinnenkamp said.
