Minn. legislators expected to finish final part of $46B budget; tax cuts, bonding bill included

WEIGHTLIFTING: Liftathon teams raise $10,000

One-hundred thirteen Brainerd students in grades 8-12 participated in the 22nd annual Sertoma Sunrise Warrior Liftathon in March in the Brainerd High School weight room.

Participants were divided into 12 fundraising teams, with 9-10 lifters per team. Teams raised $10,000 for charitable organizations and programs for disadvantaged people in the Brainerd area.

The Sertoma Sunrise Club is sponsoring a recognition breakfast April 26 at the BHS cafeteria for the top three fundraising teams and the Liftathon MPPO winners, Miles Pearson and Courtney Ryan.

The top three fundraising teams and their Sertoma captains:

First Place

Paul Augustinack, Jackson Dols, Jared Magstadt, Chelsie Manton, Nicole Marquart, Slade Simpson, Isaac Stone, Caleb Tautges, Dylon Tollefson, Miles Pearson. Captained by Scott Parsons.

Second Place

Caleb Benhardus, Michael Eschenbacher, Andrew Hardy, Nicholaus Kelm, Andrew Koering, Hailee Rodman, Britton Urban. Captained by Jim Hoakonson and Peggy Langer.

Third Place

Jon Asprey, Laura Boran, Mike Davis, Nikki DeChaine, Jace Engelmann, Tyler Fitch, Austin Gapinski, Hunter Sanford, Geoff Sheflo. Captained by Craig Miller.

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
