Area Baseball: Gobblers shoot down Eagles 19-0


AITKIN — Evan Ferdelman threw a no-hitter striking out 10 and walking just two to lead the Aitkin Gobblers to a 19-0 thumping of the East Central Eagles in a Great River Conference game Friday.


Even though the game lasted just five innings, all 18 Gobblers saw action. Aitkin batted around every inning but one.

Travis Bare went 2-3 with a double and Dean Lynn added a triple.

Crosby-Ironton 1

CROSBY — Keegan Couture went 2-3 and collected two RBIs for the Pequot Lakes Patriots in a 2-1 Mid-State Conference win over Crosby-Ironton Friday.

Jordan Redmond went the distance for Pequot Lakes, giving up just one run on two hits, while striking out seven. Daniel Hudrlik took the loss for the Rangers.

The second game of the doubleheader was called due to rain.

PILLAGER — Cole Hunstad and Adam Obemiller both went 2-3 with two singles in a 5-4 non-conference loss to Upsala/Swanville Friday.

Hunstad pitched all five innings of the rain shortened game. He allowed five runs on six hits and seven walks. He struck out two.

PARK RAPIDS — Senior Jacob Vetsch limited Wheaton to just two hits and one run to pitch the Staples-Motley Cardinals to a 7-1 season opening win in the opening round of the Park Rapids tournament Friday.

Vetsch struck out five and walked seven in a soggy game that was called after five innings.

Jalen Busker keyed the offense going 2-3 with a double and run scored.

Kyle Jansson and Brent Sterriker each drove in runs.
