CROSBY — Pequot Lakes’ Erin Rudbek went 7-of-9 with a double and an over-the-fence home run in a Mid-State Conference sweep of the Crosby-Ironton Rangers Friday.

Pequot won the first game 15-1 and collected a 20-2 Game Two victory.

Katie White went the distance in the first game, striking out seven, walking three and giving up no earned runs off two hits. Lindzee Johnson did the same in the second game; striking out one and giving up no walks and no earned runs.

Kayla Miller added a 6-of-8 performance for the Patriots; knocking in a run and scoring six times. Megan Hogen went 4-8 with a run scored and five RBIs. Lindzee Johnson added a triple.

STAPLES — Jessica Toman went 4-4 with four runs, four RBIs and a triple sparking the Staples-Motley Cardinals to a 15-1 season opening win over Ottertail Central in a five-inning, non-conference game Friday.

Winning pitcher Megan Vetsch helped her own cause going 2-3 at the plate with a pair of RBIs and scoring twice.

AITKIN — Rachel Curtis struck out 10 in her first varsity start as Aitkin edged East Central 17-13 in the Great River Conference opener Friday.

Curtis allowed five hits, 11 walks, and hit 5 batters in the win.

Alicia Kuhlmann and Steph Monse both contributed four RBIs for Aitkin.
