Tennis: Warriors edge Moorhead 4-3


The Brainerd Warriors remain unbeaten at 3-0 after defeating the Moorhead Spuds 4-3 in Friday’s Section 8-2A meet at Brainerd High School.


Lenka Zelinska defeated Kurt Meyer 6-0, 6-1 to win at No. 2 singles and Jared Stearns dispatched Isaac Davy 6-0, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.

Trent Anderson-Bobby Posch took their No. 2 doubles match 6-4, 6-1 and Parker Sundquist-Ben Anderholm won at No. 3 doubles 6-1, 6-3.

Gunnar Askegaard-Reno Fussy almost pulled out a win at No. 1 doubles taking the first set 6-1, but lost the next two 6-4, 6-4.

In JV matches, Kyle Johnson won in singles play and doubles victories went to Eric Holub-Nick Goll, Kyle Helmberger-Jed Rusk and Troy Bialka-Louis Grabowski.
