AREA BASEBALL: Meyer, Pierz edge Holdingford

HOLDINGFORD — Logan Meyer pitched a complete game while only allowing two earned runs on eight hits and struck out seven as Pierz edged Holdingford 3-2 Monday in a Central Minnesota Conference game.

The Pioneers were down 2-1 in the seventh before Ben Boser sparked a rally in which Pierz belted three straight hits. The rally was capped by Logan Meyer’s two-run single.

In the bottom of the seventh, Holdingford responded with a leadoff single but Meyer struck out the next three batters to end the game.

Ben Boser went 2-3 with a run for Pierz and Brad Meyer added two hits, including a double.

Isle 4, Pillager 2

ISLE — Tristan Litke recorded a triple for Pillager as the Huskies were edged 4-2 by Isle on Monday in a non-conference game.

Zach Forsberg notched the only RBI for Pillager, a sacrifice fly that scored Litke from third base. The other run scored on a wild pitch.

Cole Hunstad pitched five innings for Pillager, allowing only two hits while walking eight and striking out four.
