GOLDEN GLOVES BOXING: Wadena boxer gets to go to nationals

Wadena Golden Gloves superheavyweight Jose Perez will travel to the national tournament April 30-May 5 at Mesquite, Nev.

Perez, a senior at Staples-Motley High School, will replace the injured JJ Moen of North Dakota. Moen scored a split decision over Perez in the Upper Midwest tournament March 14-15 at Northern Lights Casino in Walker.

Perez will join Region 4 teammates Nate Rubin of Merrifield (132 pounds) and Sergio Garcia (123) of Fergus Falls at nationals.
