AREA BASEBALL: Redfield throws no-hitter; Wolverines, Patriots split

WADENA — Ryan Redfield pitched a no-hitter, striking out 11 and walking just two, leading Wadena-Deer Creek to a 1-0 win over the Pequot Lakes Patriots in the first game of Tuesday’s Mid-State Conference doubleheader.

Jake Krause finished 2-3 with a double for the Wolverines.

In Game Two, Pequot Lakes rebounded to win 6-5 as Gaven Bickford went 2-4 with two RBIs and Connor Chambers hit a bases-loaded, three-run single.

Christian Berg and Jonathan Goeden were both 2-4 for WDC.

Aitkin 11, Isle 1

AITKIN — Nathan Ehnstrom finished 2-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs as the Aitkin Gobblers moved their conference record to 5-0 with an 11-1 win over Isle in Great River Conference action Tuesday.

Alex Bobenmoyer also went 2-2 with one run scored as the Gobblers won their fifth straight. Jaron Brezinsky pitched four innings, striking out four to get the victory.

LITTLE FALLS — Collin Eckman continued his dominance at the plate with a 4-5 performance with a double and triple as the Flyers routed Milaca 19-1 to stay undefeated Monday.

Spencer Fenske went the distance in the 10-run rule game. He struck out five and walked three while only giving up one earned run in five innings.

Matt Stumpf and Matt Valentine each notched three hits for the Flyers in the Granite Ridge Conference Game.

EDEN VALLEY — Six players turned in multiple-hit performances as the Pierz Pioneers defeated Eden Valley-Watkins 16-2 in six innings in Tuesday’s Central Minnesota Conference game.

Trent Davis went 3-4 with a pair of doubles, two runs and two RBIs. Brad Meyer also finished 3-4 with a double and RBI.

Contributing two hits apiece were Ben Boser, Cody Weiss, Brady Dorn and Nick Lochner. Lochner double twice and drove in three run.

Tyler Burgoyne doubled and went 2-3 with an RBI to lead the offensive attack for the Tigers.

STAPLES — Jalen Busker went the distance for Staples-Motley, striking out 10 while walking none and gave up just two hits to lead the Cardinals to a 3-0 win over Minnewaska in Tuesday’s non-conference game.

Busker also ripped an RBI single in the third. The 6-2 Cards managed just four hits with Kyle Jansson doubling and Blake Petrich and Mark Kossan each adding singles.

Parkers Prairie 3

PARKERS PRAIRIE — Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale received five hits from five different players, including a double from Daryn Kirscht, as the Raiders gained their first Park Region Conference win of the season with a 7-3 decision over Parkers Prairie on Tuesday afternoon.

Preston Riewer pitched seven innings, striking out 10, to get the win for the Raiders.

Rangers drop two

CROSBY — The Crosby-Ironton Rangers had a tough day Tuesday, dropping a pair of games to Perham 19-1 and 3-0 in Mid-State conference play.

Joe Sura collected two hits and Michael Hoge doubled to provide the offense for the Rangers.
