AREA GIRLS GOLF: Israelson, Staples-Motley win

DETROIT LAKES — Emily Israelson shot an 82 to earn medalist honors at the Detroit Lakes Invite at Wildflower on Tuesday.

Cierra Waverek finished fifth with an 88 while Kylee Helling recorded a 96.

The Cardinals finished with a total of 367, two shots better then second-place Pelican Rapids.

Pierz girls fourth

HOWARD LAKE — Freshman Jessica Hawks shot a season-best 42, and the Pierz Pioneers finished fourth in a Central Minnesota Conference meet on Tuesday.

After the day’s action Pierz stands in fourth place in the conference standings, 52 shots behind leader Osakis.
