HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL: Lothert, DeChaine homer as Warriors sweep

WILLMAR — Paige Lothert and Nikki DeChaine belted home runs in each game for Brainerd as the Warriors swept Willmar by scores of 12-2 and 11-1 on Tuesday in a Central Lakes Conference doubleheader.

DeChaine knocked in five runs in the first game and followed with two more RBIs in the second game.

Nikki Anderson went the distance for Class 3A’s fifth-ranked Warriors in both games, striking out 12 in the first and 11 in the second while allowing one run in each.

The Warriors have allowed only eight runs in seven games this season.

• Brainerd has received a state academic championship gold award for its 3.85 cumulative team grade-point average. Academic gold distinction honors teams with a minimum 3.6 GPA.
