AREA TRACK AND FIELD: Huber wins four events as S-M boys finish second

LONG PRAIRIE — Staples-Motley’s Brian Huber won four events to help the Staples-Motley Cardinals to second place in Tuesday’s Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Invite.

Huber won the 100 dash at 11.67, the 200 dash at 22.92, the high jump at 6-3 and the long jump at 21-5.75.

The Cardinals’ Xavier Olson won the 110 hurdles (16.91) and Brandon Sterriker won the pole vault (12-6).

S-M’s Zach Borders was runner-up in the 110 hurdles (16.93) and in the 300 hurdles (43.38).

Third places were turned in by the Cardinals’ Mike Beach in the discus (115-9) and by the 4x200 relay of Joaquin Brito, Justin Ziegler, Borders and Sterriker (1:37.96).

Wadena-Deer Creek’s Logan Meyer won the shot put with a toss of 50 feet and was second in the discus (126-9.5).

In the girls meet, S-M’s Jaelin Beachy won the 300 hurdles (47.98) and finished second in the 100 hurdles (15.74) and the long jump (15-7.25).

W-DC’s Keiann Steward was second in the 100 dash (13.70) and third in the 200 dash (28.01). Teammate Emma Schmitz was second in the 1600 run (5:48.49), and W-DC’s Autumn Jahnke was second in pole vault (7-6).
