Area Softball: Pequot dominates Deer River tourney

DEER RIVER — The Pequot Lakes Patriots outscored their three opponents 46-1 to win the Deer River tournament Saturday.

Pequot downed Braham 17-1, Mountain Iron-Buhl 18-0 and Hill City 11-0 to improve to 13-0 on the season.

“We just hit the ball well,” said Pequot head coach Bret Sergent. “We only left nine runners on base the whole tournament and the one error we did have could have been called either way.

“We were able to get big leads and then we just kept hitting.”

In Game One, Katie White went 3-3 with a double, triple and a home run. She added three runs and two RBIs. Jessica Kreitz was 3-3 with three doubles, four runs and five RBIs and Lindzee Johnson had two hits and an RBI.
