UPDATE: Suspect caught in shooting of adult, two kids at South Carolina school

College Baseball: Raiders still alive

AUSTIN — The No. 7 Central Lakes Raiders remain alive in their quest to advance to the Region 13 tournament after defeating Riverland 1-0 in the first game of Friday’s doubleheader in the opening round of the Southern Division playoffs.

The Raiders were trailing 2-0 in the second game and coming to bat in the bottom of the sixth when the game was suspended because of a tornado warning.

Jaren Hoemberg’s RBI single in the third inning was the difference in Game One.

Derek Pihlaja pitched all seven innings giving up five hits, while striking out four and walking one.

Josh Edwards finished 2-3 and Jaron Hanson contributed a double.

The Raiders continued to hold Riverland scoreless in Game Two until the fifth inning. A CLC error let two Austin runs score.

That game will resume noon Saturday with the Raiders batting in the bottom of the six.

Game suspended until noon Saturday with Riverland leading 2-0 after six innings.
