AREA SOFTBALL: Unbeaten Isle defeats Flyers

LITTLE FALLS — Jamie Jenks fell a single short of hitting for the cycle as Little Falls was edged by undefeated Isle 9-4 Saturday.

Flyers starting pitcher Chloe Nelson struck out four in five innings while surrendering nine hits and three earned runs.

Alea Cekalla closed the game for the Flyers, giving up six earned runs and allowing eight hits.

Alayna Kabanuk added two hits, including a double, for Little Falls.

Staples-Motley splits

PERHAM — MacKenzie Holst ripped two hits and an RBI in each game as Staples-Motley split with Perham, losing the first game 4-1 and winning the second 9-2.

Megan Vetsch got the win in the second game as she gave up only two runs off of four hits and struck out three in seven innings.

Claire Uhlmann notched two hits in the second game and knocked in a run.
