AREA BOYS GOLF: Forsberg tops area golfers at Bemidji Invite

BEMIDJI — Nick Forsberg of Staples-Motley shot a 72 to lead area golfers at the Bemidji Invite on Monday.

Trent Hagenson was next with an 80, Michael Strain added an 81 and Andrew Israelson 82 for the Cardinals, who were third.

Nevin Greer led the Pequot Lakes Patriots with an 83. Alex Goerges and Brad Boldt each shot an 85 and Cole Bliss 88 for seventh-place Pequot.

Thompson leads Aitkin

DEERWOOD — Kyle Thompson shot a 43 to lead Aitkin to a 188-198 victory over Rush City in a Great River Conference dual meet at Cuyuna Country Club on Monday.

Tom Petersen and Nick Blachette each finished with 48s, and Sam Hanson shot 49 for the Gobblers.

Flyers finish third

PRINCETON — Jon Brill’s 79 was good for fourth place and the Little Falls Flyers finished third in a Granite Ridge Conference meet Monday at Spring Brook Golf Course.

The Flyers’ Kyler Erdman and Reed Hines tied for sixth with 82s.

Rangers finish 13th

VIRGINIA — James Cragun carded an 87 as Crosby-Ironton finished 13th with a score of 365 Monday at Virginia’s Wilderness Invitational.

Ko Uebara fired a 90, and Andy Sorben turned in a 93 for the Rangers.

Hermantown edged Virginia in a playoff hole after the teams tied at 319 at the end of 18 holes.
