Victory League Baseball: Veith and Rebels victorious

UPSALA — Rob Veith Jr. went 4-5 with a double two runs scored and a stolen base to ignite the Fort Ripley Rebels to a 6-1 victory over Upsala Sunday.

Brett Kraemer struck out six and allowed one run on two hits and four walks in five innings for the win. Logan Kalis pitched the final four to earn the save. He struck out five.

Rhett Williamson hit an RBI double and Nick Jelacie drove in two runs and scored two runs for the unbeaten Rebels.

BUCKMAN — Jeremy Monson stuck out five, walked one and allowed no runs on three hits for the complete-game shutout in the Buckman Billygoats 6-0 win over St. Wendel Sunday.

Monson helped himself by going 1-3 with an RBI. Travis Kahl was 1-3 with a run. Corey Egan went 2-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored. Mark Kahl and Nate Neeser added two hits and Pete Oldakowski and Zach Pohlkamp each drove in a run for Buckman.

St. Stephen 4

ST. STEPHEN — Jason Sadlovsky hit a solo home run and pitched four innings of three-hit ball to lead the unbeaten Lastrup Lakers over the previously unbeaten St. Stephen Steves 6-4 Sunday.

Sadlovsky struck out one in four innings. He allowed two runs on the three hits and three walks.

Reggie Litke pitched the ninth for the save.

Dave Woitalla went 3-5 with a double and two RBIs and Dan Saehr was 1-2 with two walks.

Cuyuna Range 9,

Flesnburg 4

FLENSBURG — Michael Hoge hit a solo home run and AJ Hartshorn struck out six in eight innings of work leading the Cuyuna Range Miners to a 9-4 win over Flensburg Sunday.

Hoge went 2-4 with the home run and a walk. Lance Herbst was 1-1 with three walks.

Hartshorn allowed 10 hits and four runs in the win.

Royalton 1

ROYALTON — Josh Haberman allowed six hits, three walks and one run over nine innings to pitch the St. Mathias Devils to a 6-1 victory over Royalton Sunday.

Haberman struck out one.

Blake Thiesse went 2-3 with a walk and two runs scored. Jake Francis drove in a run and Tate Heidmann was 1-4 with a run scored.

Avon 6,

Pierz Brewers 6

PIERZ — Both the Pierz Brewers and Avon Lakes knocked out 10 hits, but Pierz committed four errors to Avon’s none helping the Lakers to a 6-2 victory Sunday.

Greg Pohlkamp went 3-5 and Eric Boser was 2-4 with a double and two RBIs for Pierz.

Sobieski 8, Nisswa 6

NISSWA — Jeremiah Piepkorn’s three-run homer wasn’t enough to power the Nisswa Lightning ober the Sobieski Skis Sunday.

Piepkorn went 2-4 with the homer, double, walk three RBIs and a run, but the Skis won the rematch of last year’s Region 8C championship game 8-6.

Sobieski’s Ben Hanowski was 2-4 with an RBI and two runs. Joey Hanowski was 2-3 with three runs scored. Jon Czech finished 3-5 with a run Andrew Gurbada was 1-3 with two RBIs for the Skis.

Nisswa’s Drew Boland finished 1-3 with two walks and two runs scored. Aaron Jenkins went 2-3 with a home run and two walks and Brandon Hilts hit a double.

Harding 7

HOLDINGFORD — Dan Rocheleau went 2-4 with three RBIs but he couldn’t help the Harding Dinosaurs hold off the late charging Holdingford Express, who picked up an 8-7 victory Sunday.

The Dinosaurs held a 7-6 lead going into the bottom of the ninth, but the Express rallied for their first victory of the season.

Harding’s Tyler Swoboda scored twice, Brad Meyer walked three times, drove in a run and scored and Curt Caughey was 2-5 with a run.

Opole 8, Bulldogs 1

OPOLE — Preston Loidolt and Craig Luberts accounted for both of the Pierz Bulldogs hits in an 8-1 loss to the Opole Bears Sunday.

Loidolt was 1-3 and was hit by a pitch. Luberts hit an RBI single.
