PARK RAPIDS — Wadena-Deer Creek’s Hope and Heather Theisen advanced to the Section 8-2A final round following the South Subsection tournament Wednesday.


Hope Theisen shot an 89 to finish second among individuals whose teams did not qualify for the section. Only the top three teams advance to the section and the top six individuals not on the top three teams.

Heather Theisen shot a 99, and advanced on the first playoff hole to finish sixth among non-team qualifiers.

Paige Hartman finished with a 97 but is unable to attend the section finals.

Team scores: 1-Detroit Lakes 313, 2-Pelican Rapids 374, 3-Perham 391, 4-Wadena-Deer Creek 392, 4-Fergus Falls 392, 6-Hawley 395, 7-DDGF 426, 8-Breckenridge 609

Individual medalist: Natalie Roth (DL) 74

C-I’s Spaid leads area

BIWABIK — Crosby-Ironton’s Amy Spaid recorded a two-round total of 246 to finish in 33rd place, tops for area golfers from Aitkin and Crosby-Ironton in the Section 7-2A finals at Giants Ridge Wednesday.

Aitkin’s Abbie Hughes was next in line with a total of 253.

No Ranger or Gobbler golfers advanced to the 2A state tournament.

Team scores: 1-Hermantown 737, 2-International Falls 795, 3-Hibbing 803, 4-Eveleth-Gilbert 810

Individual medalist: Olivia Tusa (Htn) 158
