TRACK AND FIELD: Warriors' Kassulker, Murrey qualify for state

SAUK RAPIDS — Brainerd’s Jake Kassulker and Josh Murrey qualified for the Class 2A state meet following runner-up finishes on the opening day of competition in the Section 8-2A meet Wednesday night.

Kassulker was second in shot put and Murrey was second in pole vault for the Brainerd boys, who led led the first-day field with 31 points.

No Warrior girls qualified for state in field events. Brainerd was eighth in first-day points.

The top eight finishers in Wednesday’s open running events advance to Saturday’s finals at Detroit Lakes. All four relays and three more field events will also be conducted Saturday.
