Brainerd Warriors head football coach Ron Stolski will be honored by Macalester College during a reunion in June.

Stolski a 1962 graduate of the St. Paul college will receive the Distinguished Citizen Award, which recognizes alumni who have exercised leadership in civic, social, religious and professional activities.

According to the Macalester website, “despite all of the honors, achievements, and victories, Stolski’s success is rooted in a foundation that extends beyond the end zone.‘I developed that philosophy in the neighborhoods of north Minneapolis and at Macalester, where we learned to need one another and care for one another,’” Stolski told the college.

The former English teacher and activities director at Brainerd High school played quarterback and was captain of the Macalester football team.

“The unique experience of a team is that, for a brief moment in our lives, together we become one heartbeat,” said Stolski. “We’ve been able to instill in our kids that we can all settle for our very, very best effort,”

Stolski will return to the sidelines for his 51st season of coaching football.
