Area Girls Golf: Pequot second, three others advance

SARTELL — Maggie Heggerston’s 77 Monday helped place the Pequot Lakes Patriots five shots behind first-round leader Rocori during the Section 6-2A tournament at Blackberry Golf Club.

Heggerston tied with Staples-Motley’s Emily Israelson for Monday’s lowest score. Israelson, along with teammate Cierra Waverek, who shot a 90, and Pierz’s Jessica Hawks, who also shot 90, will advance to Tuesday’s final round.

Savannah Stone’s 79, Erika Schwalbe’s 89 and Sam Olmscheid’s 94 helped the Patriots, the defending section champions, to a second-place 339.

WALKER — Wadena-Deer Creek’s Heather Theisen shot a 97 and Hope Theisen a 99 during the final round of the Section 8-2A tournament Monday at Longbow Golf Club.

Neither Wolverines advanced to state.
