Warrior Boys Golf: Foley in fifth, Warriors fourth after Day 1

SAUK CENTRE — Michael Foley fired a first-round 75 to place him in a tie for fifth-place and land the Brainerd Warriors in fourth place during the opening round of the Section 8-3A tournament Monday at Greystone Golf course.

Moorhead’s Ben Welle shot an even-par 72 to lead the field and put the Spuds in the lead by 10 strokes over second-place Buffalo.

Brainerd’s Tommy Olson is tied for ninth with a 77. TJ Perpich shot a 78 to put him in a tie for 14th and Nik Helland fired an 80 for Brainerd’s 310.

Thomas Stoxen shot 81 and Aaron Rich an 85 for the Warriors, who will play in the Section’s final round Tuesday.
