Ultimate nips Bees on home run in 8th
Ryan Schneider’s solo home run in the bottom of the eighth lifted Ultimate Sports past the Brainerd Bees 2-1 in a Lakewood League game Sunday.
Tom Fairbanks’ single in the top of the eighth drove in the Bees’ only run.
Tim Martin pitched first seven innings for Brainerd. He allowed three hits and one run, struck out four and walked one.
Burrell Flanagan took the loss. He allowed one hit and one run and struck out one.
Ultimate scored its other run in the third on an RBI groundout by Reese Gregory.
Bees 18, Jimmy’s 7
Tom Fairbanks went 4 for 6 as the Bees defeated Sauk Rapids Jimmy’s 18-7 in eight innings Saturday despite committing nine errors.
Fairbanks had two doubles and two RBIs as the Bees racked up 19 hits.
Kyle Crocker went 2-4 with three RBIs and two runs scored. Joel Martin went 3-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Pat Skogen went 3-5 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Tyler Lenz went 3-4 with two runs and an RBI. Mark Ortega had a double and four RBIs.
Joel Martin was credited with the win. He went five innings, giving up six runs, none earned, on four hits, a walk and three strikeouts.
Burrell Flanagan finished, allowing one earned run, on two hits and a walk while striking out two.
