VFW Baseball: Brainerd and Sauk Rapids split

SAUK RAPIDS — Zack Houle went 3-4 with four RBIs as the Brainerd sophomore VFW team won Game Two 14-4 after losing Game One 4-1 to Sauk Rapids Monday.

TJ Graumann went 2-3. Logan McElfresh was 2-3 with three run scored and two RBIs. Derek Knoll was 1-3 with two RBIs and Blaine Grater hit a double and scored twice.

Dillon Solid pitched five of the six innings. He struck out one, walked three and allowed four run on seven hits.

Beau Janousek took the loss in Game one. He struck out two, walked four and hit one batter, while giving up seven hits and four runs.

Conor Gessell was 2-3 and Nate DeChaine hit a double.

Cold Spring 2

Peter Dahl went 3-3 with three RBIs and Quinn McElfresh was 2-4 with three RBIs as the Brainerd freshmen VFW team downed Cold Spring 13-2 in seven innings Monday at Mills Field in Brainerd.

Paul Augustinak was 2-4 with two doubles and two RBIs for Brainerd, which improved to 19-4 overall.

Jacob Russell pitched the first three innings for the victory. He struck out three, walked one and allowed one run on two hits.
