Track and Field: Walters signs with SCSU

Jackson Walters, a track and field athlete at Brainerd High School, signed a letter of intent to attend St. Cloud State University and compete in the Husky track program beginning this fall.

Walters holds school records in the indoor 60-meter hurdles and the outdoor 110-meter hurdles.

He claimed individual conference titles in both the indoor and outdoor hurdles and was the state runner-up in the 110 hurdles. Walters was a USA Junior National Championship qualifier in the 110 hurdles.

“Coach (Brian) Sebera and I are very excited about adding Jackson to our 2012-13 recruiting class,” said SCSU assistant coach and recruiting coordinator Michael Coonen. “He is an outstanding hurdler who will easily transition to the collegiate hurdles. We have high expectations for him and believe he will turn some heads this upcoming season. We hope to continue to bring in athletes of Jackson’s caliber and make St. Cloud State the destination for Minnesota’s top prep track and field athletes.”
