GIRLS TENNIS: Warriors win one of three in opener
Brainerd MN 506 James St. / PO Box 974 56401

HIBBING — The Brainerd Warriors opened their season with a 4-3 win over host Hibbing in the Bluejackets’ invitational Monday.

Sara Wennerstrand and Natalie Comeau won singles matches against Hibbing and the doubles teams of Megan Hintz-Brooke Mimmack and Lauren Rud-Kristina Anderson provided the other two wins.

“We really used today to see what our lineup strengths are,” Warriors coach Ellen Fussy said. “Our win against Hibbing was probably the lineup we’ll get to see a lot, but we still wanted to change it up and see where things will fall.

“Thursday (at Delano) the girls will be playing one position all day. It’s not a team tournament, it’s a position tournament. In the next two days the coaches will have to put their heads together and make some decisions.”
