NORMAN, Okla. — The Golf Coaches Association of America selected St. Cloud State University senior golfer Mitch Means of Brainerd as a 2012 Division II Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar.

Means is one of 52 Division II student athletes to earn the honor.

To be eligible for All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70 percent of their team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 78.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2.

Means competed in 23 rounds during the 2011-12 season and averaged 77.2 strokes per round. His low round of the season was a 72 at the NSIC/RMAC Crossover last fall. Last spring he placed 68th at the NCAA Division II Central/West Super Regional with a 54-hole total of 231.

SCSU made its ninth straight NCAA appearance and placed 15th overall in the championship.

In addition, the Huskies placed second in the 2011-12 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship.
