Von Hanson’s defeated People’s Security 27.5-16.5 Aug. 16 to build it’s men’s league lead to 19 points at Cragun’s Legacy Courses.
Halverson Law moved into second place thanks to a 27-17 win over Mulligan’s with American National in third despite losing 24.5-19.5 to Applebee’s.

Sue Marsolais scored 24 points Aug. 16 to win the Breezy Point Resort women’s league miniskill point tournament on the Traditional front nine.
Bugs Schmidt, Sylvia Schmitt and Judy Thomas tied for second with 23. Jean Appleton and Janie Pommer tied for third. Barb Owens, Connie Parsley, Mary Morgan and Gloria Thoms tied for fourth with Verna Milller, Bunny Oseland and Kathy Zender tying for fifth.
Pam Musielewicz and Rox Thompson won the Lone Ranger event with a 44 and Janet Horn sank the longest putt during the Aug. 14 women’s night at Madden’s Resort.
Barb Hanson added another championship to her career tally Aug. 15.
Hanson carded rounds of 76-78 for a two-day 154 to win the Whitefish women’s 18-hole league championship.
Susan Walstrom’s 182 was second low gross.
Low nets for flight A were Enga Wodziak in first, Barb Holubar in second.
Anita Stensby was the low net for flight B. Joan Kantos was second.
Nancy Schmidt secured the low gross title for flight C. Mary Jean Herdey was low net and Lois Haglund was second.
Day One, Hanson had a chip-in and three birdies. Walstrom carded a birdie and Nancy Carlson and Nancy Einan had chip-ins.
Hanson carded two more birdies on Day Two. Marguerite Baker tallied a birdie with Mimi Swanson had two chip-ins and Haglund had one.
Deeg in top 15
Cassie Deeg of Golden Eagle shot a three-day 238 to finish 12th in the 41st Minnesota Women’s State Amateur Championship Aug. 14-16 at Mendakota Country Club.
Deeg fired rounds of 80-82-76 to fall 18-shots back of winner Sara Burnham of Rush Creek.
Baxter’s Jenny Muesing out of Grand View Lodge’s Pines course shot 81-77-79 for a 237 to win the first flight by nine strokes.
The Vintage at Staples will host a senior golf tournament at 11 a.m. Sept. 13.
The tournament will have three divisions. Pre-senior (age 50-59), senior (60-69) and masters (70 and up).
Entry fee of $45 includes golf, cart and lunch. There will be net and gross divisions with an optional skins game.

In the women’s social golf league Aug. 1, Mary Lienke had the lowest putts on eight holes. On Aug. 15, Judy Kolstad, Judy Stemper and Linda Harrier won the first on green contest.
The 3-person team of Jo Ann Sufka, Barb Heck, and Judy Kolstad won the pink ball game.
The league will meet Wednesday, Aug. 22.
On Aug. 29, the league will hold its final event followed by a luncheon. All women are welcome.
In the couples social golf league July 29, Dan Gruszka won the lowest putts on eight holes competition.
The pink ball game was won by the team of Doris Gruszka, Bob Boushek, and Larry Stemper.
On Aug. 5, Bob Boushek won for the men and Doris Gruszka won for the women for the longest drive on No. 1.
On Aug. 12, Doris Gruszka won the bingo-bango-bongo game.
The couples group runs through Aug. 26.
Grand View outings
The team of Barb Elmquist, Carrie Spitzack, Jean Morgan, and Clare Anderson shot 35 Aug. 7th at the Preserve to win the scramble event.
Second-place team of Candace Prigge, Marian Duffy, and Marilyn Sobiech shot 36.
The teams of Connie Lazar, Betty Vosberg and Katie Wallace tied the team of Cindy Clow, Chris Lee and Judy Anderson by shooting 41.
Longest putt was by Jean Morgan. Closest to the pin was Cindy Clow.
In the Aug. 14th scramble at the Pines, first place went to the team of Katie Wallace, Judi Moravec, Paula West, and Carrie Spitzack with a 36.
Second with a 39 was the team of Marlene Perkins, Barb Elmquist and Betty Kackman.
Third with a 42 was the team of Joan McBrien, Marilyn Sobiech, Clare Anderson, and Jean Morgan.
Longest putts were by Ann Powers and Joan McBrien. Betty Kackman had a chip-in.
Grand View outings coming up include a women’s event at Deacon’s Lodge at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 28 with a shotgun start.
The last women’s outing of the season will be at the Pines at 5 p.m. Sept. 4.
The last coed outing is scheduled at the Pines at 5 p.m. Sept. 11.
Hole in one
Greg Arens aced the 146-yard No. 7 on Bobby’s course at Cragun’s Legacy Courses with a 6-iron Aug. 18.
