AREA BOYS SOCCER: Lumberjacks defeat Flyers in opener

BEMIDJI — Alex Schussman scored a hat trick and Isak Sommer added two goals as the Bemidji Lumberjacks defeated the Little Falls Flyers 5-1 in a season-opening game Friday.

Nathan Masog tallied off a free kick in the first half for the Flyers’ only goal.

Bemidji outshot the Flyers 15-8. Gabe Ploof made 10 saves for the Flyers, who play at Hillcrest Lutheran in Fergus Falls at 6 p.m. Monday.
