AREA FOOTBALL: Tappe, Redmond help Patriots past Cardinals

PILLAGER — Tyler Tappe gained 171 yards on the ground on 12 carries while scoring four times as Pequot Lakes opened its season with a 38-6 win over non-conference foe Staples-Motley Thursday night.

Jordan Redmond netted 171 yards passing while throwing two touchdowns compared to just one interception for the Patriots.

Mike Beach’s 10-yard run was the Cardinals’ only score.

The game was played at Pillager due to the Patriots’ home field being under construction.
