Warrior Girls Soccer: Warriors tie again

ST. CLOUD — “We’re getting tired of ties,” lamented Brainerd coach Ricky Lacerte.

After starting the season 2-0, the Warriors have managed ties in their last three matches, the latest coming in a 2-2 overtime finish with St. Cloud Apollo Thursday in a Central Lakes Conference matchup.

Brainerd led the Eagles 2-1 after the first half with Ally Smith and Emily Beltran scoring in the frame.

Brooke Johnson tallied the final goal in the second half for the Eagles to tie the score

“We’re tired of being the team with all the potential — we want to be the team winning in actuality,” said Lacerte. “If we can clean up some simple mistakes we’re making, we can return to being a winning team.”

Heather Campbell made six saves for the Warriors who outshot the Eagles 9-8.
