RUNNING: Brainerd homecoming run Oct. 6

Bonnie Muzik of the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department will be one of 15 individuals inducted into the Minnesota Softball Hall of Fame Nov. 3 at the MSHOF Banquet at the River’s Edge Convention Center (St. Cloud Civic Center).

The MSHOF biennually recognizes players, managers, umpires, sponsors, promoters, administrators, organizers, volunteers or media who have made outstanding contributions to the sport. Softball is the largest team participant sport in Minnesota, and in the nation, with more than 6,000 teams participating.

Cost of the banquet is $40. Tickets may be obtained from the MSHOF, P.O. Box 368, Big Lake, MN 55309 or at www.msf1.org. Deadline to purchase tickets is Oct. 26.

Brainerd homecoming run Oct. 6

The second annual Brainerd Homecoming 5-kilometer Fun Run and Walk is scheduled at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 6.

The event is a fundraiser to help the Brainerd Warriors Nordic ski team pay for buses, fee reductions for skiers, and equipment.

Another way to access information is to Google “Brainerd Homecoming 5k.”

Entry fee is $20 in advance, $25 the day of the event. Brainerd students may pick up a registration form from their school office and save $5. T-shirts will be given to all participants.

Start/finish lines and registration area will be near the main entrance of Brainerd High School, 702 S. 5th St. Parking and toilet facilities will be available at the start/finish and registration areas.

Awards will be presented to the top three males and females in each age group. There will also be a prize for the first male and female finishers.
