SWIMMING AND DIVING: Sartell hands Warriors first conference loss

SARTELL — Fallon Ryan won two events and Beth Etterman was triumphant in the diving competition, but Class 1A’s defending state champion Sartell Sabres dealt the Brainerd Warriors their first conference loss of the season 103-81 in Tuesday’s Central Lakes Conference meet.

Ryan captured the 100 and 200 freestyle events and Brainerd finished 1-2 in diving with Etterman scoring 206.65 points followed by Lonie Anderson with 171.15.

Sartell has captured two of the last three 1A state titles.

“Sartell is the defending state champion and they showed it tonight,” said Brainerd coach Dan Anderson. “They’re awfully good and deep. We swam well, but just didn’t have enough for them.”
