ULEN — Shania Glenz had 13 ace serves, 25 kills and 44 digs as the Verndale Pirates won the silver division Saturday at the Ulen-Hitterdal tournament.

The Pirates had a win, loss and tie in pool play. In the silver division, they beat New York Mills 2-1 and Kittson County Central 2-0.

Teresa Moenkedick notched 45 kills and 54 digs for the Pirates, Elyssa Kern had 51 set assists and 32 digs Sarah Moenkedick added 48 set assists and 27 digs.

Teammates Krista Dailey and Jordan Glenz each contributed 16 kills.

LRCS splits at

Owatonna tournament

OWATONNA — Sam Snow’s 10 aces, 12 digs and 20 set assists helped the Lake Region Christian Hornets to a 1-1 split at a Minnesota Association of Christian Schools tournament Saturday.

The Hornets were shut out 3-0 by Owatonna Christian in the first match and scored a 3-0 victory over Grace of Mankato in the second.

Marlee Moore had 16 kills, Bethany Cressman had 13 kills and 18 digs, Grace Czeczok had 15 digs and Molly Grider had 10 digs for LRCS.

BURNSVILLE — Emily Miron had 33 kills, 14 digs and 25 blocks for the eighth-ranked Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines as they finished 1-2 in the Class 2A Showcase tournament Saturday.

Hope Theisen had 56 digs and Heather Theisen pitched in with 25 set assists for the Wolverines.
