BIATHLON: Baker, Ruzich third in age divisions

Zean Baker of Nisswa and Jenna Ruzich of Baxter, skiing for NNW Biathlon, finished third in their respective age divisions in the 9.8-kilometer mass start biathlon event Sunday at Elk River.

Baker was third in the youth men’s class and sixth overall. He shot 4,2,5,1 with a time of 34:58.

Ruzich, a sophomore at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, was third in the female division and 11th overall, shooting 3,3,3,3 in 41:04.

Ty Hadrits, Brainerd, was fourth in the youth men’s division and 10th overall, shooting 1,3,3,4 in 37:35.

Cam Christiansen, Nisswa, the only boys division competitor doing the full course, was 13th overall, shooting 4,2,2,3 in 41:51.

Pelle Christiansen, Nisswa, the only masters male competing, was 15th overall, shooting 2,5,1,4 in 45:59.

The next event will be the annual fall festival at Elk River Oct. 27-28.
