Elks State Soccer Shoot conducted

Thirty-two youths representing Elks lodges from around the state competed in the state soccer shoot at the Elks Youth Camp on Pelican Lake Aug. 25.

The annual Minnesota Elks State Soccer Shoot is for boys and girls ages 6-13. A family camp weekend was provided for contestants and their families, free of charge.

Youths who represented the Elks Central District were:

7-under: Girls, Allie Dwyer, Brainerd, boys, Sawyer Lofstedt, Hutchinson

8-9-year-olds: Girls, Emily Lenarz, Hutchinson; boys, Mathew Horstmann, Wadena

10-11: Girls, Hannah Johnson, Hutchinson; boys, Isaac Foster, Brainerd

12-13: Girls, Regan McElfresh, Brainerd; boys, Tommy Thompson, Wadena. 

Area youths who represented Brainerd at the state shoot were, Allie Dwyer, second place; Isaac Foster, first place; and Regan McElfresh, second. Isaac Foster was the top shooter overall at the state shoot.

in NFL Punt, Pass, Kick

The NFL and the Brainerd Jaycees invite boys and girls ages 6-15 to compete in the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick event at the Forestview Middle School practice field in Baxter at noon Saturday, Sept. 29.

Boys and girls compete separately in five age divisions (6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15).

All participants launch one punt, one pass and one kick, with scores based on distance and accuracy (in feet).

There is no cost to compete.

Millions of youths compete nationwide each year, and 32 make it to the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick National Finals.
