Tackle Cancer game raises $500

Tackling Cancer nets $500

More than $500 was donated during the “Tackle Cancer” game between Bemidji and Brainerd high schools last week.

The contest was disrupted in the first half by winds that gusted at more than 40 mph and by driving periods of rain.

“I think it was unfortunate that the weather turned out the way it did,” Brainerd coach Ron Stolski said. “I think we were poised to have a big crowd — Brainerd vs. Bemidji. When that ominous weather appeared, I would guess it definitely cut down on whatever contributions were made, but thanks to the people who were able to come and make a contribution.”
