Area Girls Tennis: Pierz advances in subsection tournament

PIERZ — The No. 4 seeded Pierz Pioneers swept all three doubles matches and three singles matches as they defeated the Mora Mustangs 6-1 in the South Subsection 7-1A team tournament play-in meet.

Seniors Abby Bujalski and Sara Schlegel won their No. 1 doubles match and senior Tarynn Kasper triumphed at No. 1 singles.

The Pioneers face No. 1-seeded Foley in the South Subsection 7-1A team semifinals Monday.

Becker 6, Little Falls 1

SARTELL — Arielle Emerson won at No. 4 singles for the fifth-seeded Little Falls Flyers as they were defeated by No. 4 Becker 6-1 in the opening round of the South Subsection 8-2A tournament Thursday at Fitness Evolution.
